Trivia Night Recap: A New Venue, Same Old Trivia Chaos
Sunday trivia made its debut at Absolution Brewing Company in Torrance, and DaNile apparently decided the best way to christen the new venue was to absolutely demolish everyone. They opened strong, stayed strong, and finished with a monster 92, including a perfect 20 in the final round. Subtlety was clearly not on the agenda.
Real Quiz Wives of Torrance kept things interesting, matching DaNile’s 15-point opening and 12-point Round 3, then pulling ahead to 75 after seven rounds. A 5-point final kept them from sealing the win, but 80 points is a pretty solid welcome-to-the-new-venue performance.
Pint Half Full put together a steady night, climbing from 8 after Round 2 to 63 heading into the final. They added another 5 for 68 and comfortably secured third.
Swedish Mafia had one of those "we're still in this" nights. After a rough 2-point opening, they recovered with a 12 in Round 3 and a 20 in Round 6 to reach 52. Unfortunately, the final round contributed exactly zero, leaving them with 52.
Eggplant, 731 Gold, and The Smarty Pints spent most of the night battling in the lower half of the standings, with Eggplant eventually coming out on top at 37.
731 Gold's -1 in Round 4 did not exactly help the cause, while The Smarty Pints managed a few nice bursts but couldn't turn them into sustained momentum.
And then there was Sadie & the Smarties, who appear to have interpreted "Sunday Funday" as "Sunday, But Make It Painful." After Round 2 they had 6 points and then proceeded to score zero in every remaining round. A truly remarkable commitment to consistency.
DaNile takes the inaugural Absolution Brewing Sunday title with 92 points, setting the bar fairly high for the new venue. Everyone else now has a week to decide whether to rise to the challenge or simply hope DaNile forgets where Absolution is.
