Project Barley Square delivered a night that started competitive and slowly devolved into “who can survive the final wager with their dignity intact.”
Real Quiz Wives of Torrance (130) absolutely dominated the field with 97 points, posting one of those scorelines where the rest of the room just collectively decides second place is the real competition. They were already sitting at 77 before the final wager and then casually added another 20 because apparently they had answers left over.
Team Duraco took second with 69 after exploding out of the gate with a 16-point opening. They continued to play well, but couldn't seal the deal in the final rounds.
One Hour Hot dogg (070) landed at 66 with one of the steadiest nights on the board. No catastrophic rounds, no miracle swings, just consistent scoring and a quiet little 5-point wager to close things out. Responsible. Mature. Slightly suspicious behavior for these trivia players.
Your Brain On Ale (051) clawed their way to 62 despite eating a brutal -1 in Round 4. Negative points in the middle of a game are always a fun reminder that confidence and knowledge are not legally required to overlap.
Drinking and Knowing Things finished at 55, proving they were at least halfway truthful in the team name.
Then came the beautiful disaster section of the leaderboard.
One Small Step started with literal zeros after missing the first two rounds.Started in round three and and grinding all the way to 47. Inspirational stuff. Like a sports movie where the team forgets the game started.
The Bridget Bardots looked solid through seven rounds with 53 points… and then detonated a -10 final wager to finish at 43. Nothing says “we believed in ourselves too much” quite like that kind of ending.
And finally, a standing ovation for Pints and Reds, who managed the rare and majestic -20 final wager collapse. They walked into the final round with 51 and left with 31, which is the trivia equivalent of driving a car directly into a decorative fountain.
