BBBLS proved one ugly round doesn't have to ruin your night. After eating a painful -2 in Round 4, they responded by dropping an 18, a 20, a 12, and a 20-point wager. That's called holding a grudge against the scoreboard. Eighty-one points and the win. (hmmmm)
Torranceal Downpour looked like they were about to wash everyone away. Three monster rounds in the middle had them sitting on 79 before the wager, but they played it safe with a zero. A smart move... unless you're trying to catch a team that just dropped a 20.
Red Lites stayed within striking distance all evening and were one of the most consistent teams in the room. Unfortunately, a one-point miss on the Final Wager turned a potential 66 into a 65. Sometimes one point feels like ten.
One Hour Hot Dogg spotted the field a goose egg in Round 1, then spent the rest of the night pretending it never happened. The comeback was impressive, but starting late is still starting late.
Your Brain On Ale looked like the hottest team in the room after back-to-back perfect rounds pushed them to 50. Then the Final Wager shaved off two points, leaving them tied for fourth instead of making a run at the podium.
Real Quiz Wives of Torrance quietly assembled another solid performance. No spectacular explosions, no spectacular disasters, just enough good answers to hang around the top half all night. Sometimes consistency doesn't get the headlines.
WillPower had the roughest first half of the night before suddenly deciding Round 5 was more their speed. The late rally earned them 47 points and the satisfaction of finishing much stronger than they started. That's what we call character development.
